This clarifier replaced a unit that was approximately 40 years old. The automation of the filter plant moved on by developing a plan for the completion of SCADA (Data Acquisition). The year 2000 came in with no computer or operational problems. The lack of problems indicates a lot of time and effort on behalf of the water and electrical industry nation wide. During the year, a great deal of effort was put into private well compliance for the City of Wisconsin Rapids. With approximately 1,800 private wells within the City, this task will take several years with about 1/3 being completed. Water SourceWisconsin Rapids is supplied with water from four Ranney Collector wells located in the Town of Grand Rapids and pumped to our 16th Street Treatment Plant. After treatment, the water is pumped into the approximately 150 miles of distribution mains serving 7,675 customers. Our average daily pumping for 2000 was 2,653,000 gallons.
