After the concrete shaft and dome are finished the tank crew moves in and begins assembling sections of the tank. The tank sections are pre assembled on the ground because it is easier to weld when the pieces laying flat. This also speeds assembly because there are fewer pieces to lift into the air.

The assembled pieces of the bottom cone are lifted into the air and set in place.
